The best psychotherapy model I have encountered

As a psychologist with over 40 years experience, I can say that the IFS model is the best model I have encountered in my career. It allows me to see my clients as whole and capable, and gives me the tools to help them get obstacles out of the way. The IFS model fosters my creativity as a clinician, and the creativity of my clients. It is a delight to see couples and individuals find fresh, robust solutions to their problems. I really enjoy marveling at how I never would have thought of such good solutions myself. It is useful for highly traumatized clients as well as clients struggling with transitory adjustment issues. It is a gentle, powerful, non-agressive approach to the challenges of life. This book, the original introductory book authored by IFS' brilliant founder, Richard Schwartz,is a gem.

Well-written, concise and paradigm-shifting

This short book describes a model of understanding the personality system that I believe is fast becoming the new paradigm for healing what have been dubbed "mental illnesses" or "personality disorders".
With exercises that illustrate the model and examples that will feel familiar to readers, this book has the potential to be life-altering. As a psychotherapist this is the only view of the person that I have come across that values and recognises the inherent worth of every part of our being.
Discovering this model has enriched my personal life and facilitated permanent positive changes in the many clients with whom I have worked over the years.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough - reading it affords the opportunity for embarking on a journey of self-exploration that leads to greater peace, clarity and self-compassion. May we all benefit from the wisdom in these pages.
