Different from the usual Hellions MC books but I appreciated the honesty and passion

I pretty much have read everything in Chelsea Camaron's library of work and am never disappointed. Some books are lighter than others, some have more humor, some are downright sexy as hell and others, like Heated Ride, touch a spot in my heart that really hurts.
A marriage with young children that is falling apart, losing its spark and passion and when there is nothing to be done about it but take a break...well that is heartbreaking for everyone.
Ruby fought his way into the US from Mexico and brought his childhood friend Jenna with him to escape a bad situation. As a member of the Hellions MC, Ruby has fought to survive, make a name for himself, earn a reputation as a stand-up guy and family man while always putting his club first and taking on the role of protector for his wife and kids. When did everything get so complicated and fall apart and how will the pieces get put back together again? These are just some of the questions that Ruby and Jenna must struggle to figure out and when outside forces threaten them even more than their crumbling marriage, things get very precarious and dangerous and it is only with strength (and the help of the MC brotherhood) that they can try to find a way out.
I'm not going to lie...this book made me tear up and cry a few times and made me think deeply about what went wrong in my own life (and other readers may have similar experiences)...because Camaron has a way of digging down into the dirt and pulling up the ugly truth whether we want it or not.
This one is very different from the usual books in the Hellions MC series but I appreciated it for the honest portrayal of married life and human nature in general.

you read about the guy and the girl meeting and how they progress to their happily ever after

Do I suggest you read the other books that are in this series before this one....yes, I do, I really do!

So, this story is a bit different than ones that we normally find in the romance genre. Normally, you read about the guy and the girl meeting and how they progress to their happily ever after. This story shows you what happens AFTER all that, when life happens, and bills need to be paid, and kids are growing..... it's a never ending cycle. The one thing that will always be a constant is love, it will differ day to day but it's always there, but guys are dumb....

Ruby and Vida have been married with kids for 10 years, but life isn't really making Ruby happy. So what happens to their relationship when Ruby says the one phrase that most women would hate to hear?

I'm not gonna lie, as a married woman with 3 kids and one on the way, looking at the other side of 10 years married, this was kind of hard to read. It hits so close to home, but it's the truth.

I have loved this series from the start and this was no exception. I give this 5 stars.

Can they fine their love again

This is my second book by Chelsea Camaron and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story. This is Jenna and Ruben story , these tow people have been together it's seems like forever , she has loved Ruben ever since she has be 9 years old . And they have 3 lovely children together, and they are their whole world . Jenna and Ruben have been through so much since living in Mexico.So lets fast ward in time a few years to see how Ruben and Jenna are doing. And poor Ruben and Jenna are at a crossroad in their marriage ,where did all their passion and how did they loose themselves? Is it the hardships and the struggles all the family and working that make the spark stop in a marriage. These two people are still madly in love with each other, but he is struggling with showing her, he loves her. If you put children ,MC club ,and add a bunch of brothers all in the mix you end up building a wall between each other. So can Ruben and Jenna break down that wall and come together again? Or is their marriage done for good? This story has hot sexy alpha's ,who just happens to ride bikes , we have danger, old lady's , but this author has given us is an amazing love romance story. That will grab you from the start and hold you there until the end ,will make you smile with happiness and tear up with their sadness . This story is part of a series and can be read as a standalone but I suggest you read them all. I could go on and tell you more about this touching story but that would spoil it for you .I highly recommend that you read this touching story ,you won't be disappointed

What a carefully written exploration!

I think this book is a masterpiece in mathematical exposition. All you need to know is how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and maybe a vague memory of algebra. Mr. Friedberg will walk you through a lot of number theory after which (or maybe even during which) you may find a number theory textbook more approachable. If you read carefully you will really internalize what a proof by contradiction is and what an infinite descent is. You'll get a real appreciation for the logic of a proof and you'll see some ingenius tricks used by some great mathematicians ... and you'll understand them!
This book is approachable and doable by anyone with a motivation for what can be understood about numbers. And I can't stress how carefully, thoughtfully, and articulately it is written.

An impishly, well-written introduction to number theory.

The author's enthusiasm shines through as he explains primes, perfect numbers, quadratic forms, and more. The explanations are clear: not too easy, but not too hard; Mr. Friedberg does a remarkable job of gauging the reader's level (at least MY level!).
I didn't realize number theory was so much fun until I started reading this book.
Note: I noticed a small typo on p.95: the equation to generate Pythagorean triplets is missing a 'square' on the left hand side.

An informal introduction to number theory with a historical perspective.

Friedberg's text, which is written in an inviting conversational tone, is an idiosyncratic introduction to number theory which stresses the subject's historical development. The material is introduced through problems that motivate the results that Friedberg discusses. These results include Euclid's theorem that there are infinitely many prime numbers, the use of the sieve of Eratosthenes to find prime numbers less than the square root of a positive integer n, Gauss' Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, perfect and amicable numbers, Pythagorean triples, modular arithmetic, factoring numbers of the form x^2 + ny^2, and the Law of Quadratic Reciprocity. Friedberg ably links these topics together and places them in historical perspective. However, there are better introductions to number theory. This text has no formal exercises, so you do not have an opportunity to reinforce what you are learning. It is also a poor reference because definitions, theorems, and proofs are stated within paragraphs, the whimsical chapter titles do not convey what topics are covered, and there is no subject index to help you find the definitions and theorems that are buried within the paragraphs. Also, the scope of coverage is less than that of other introductions to number theory.

In his introduction, Friedberg, a physicist, distinguishes between the common and scientific meanings of the word theory. He also discusses the difference between a scientific theory and a mathematical theorem.

Friedberg uses sequences to introduce proofs by mathematical induction. Friedberg shows how proofs of mathematical induction work and discusses why they are valid. In the text, however, he tends to use Fermat's method of infinite descent to prove assertions indirectly rather than using direct induction proofs.

While discussing these sequences, Friedberg refers to 1 as a prime number, contrary to the usual definition that a prime number is a positive integer larger than 1 whose only factors are 1 and itself. Defining 1 to be prime would violate the assertion of the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic that each positive integer has a unique prime factorization. For instance, if you allow 1 to be prime,

6 = 2 x 3 = 1 x 2 x 3 = 1 x 1 x 2 x 3 = ...

This is problematic, so Friedberg disregards his own assertion that 1 is prime when discussing the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic.

Friedberg then discusses some results from ancient Greece, including the fact that the square root of 2 is irrational, Euclid's theorem that there are infinitely many primes, the sieve of Eratosthenes, perfect numbers, and amicable numbers. He also proves the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic while covering these topics.

During a brief discussion of Diophantine equations, Friedberg discusses how to find and factor Pythagorean triples, that is, triples (x, y, z) of positive integers that satisfy the equation x^2 + y^2 = z^2. A better explanation of how to find Pythagorean triples is given by John Stillwell in his texts Mathematics and its History and Elements of Number Theory. After Friedberg's discussion of the problem, he tackles the more general problem of how to factor numbers of the form x^2 + ny^2, where n is a positive integer. The mathematics used to solve this problem, including modular arithmetic, is quite powerful, which is conveyed by the simple proofs Friedberg provides of results proved with more difficulty earlier in the book and by his proofs of Fermat's Last Theorem for the cases n = 3 and n = 4.

Friedberg concludes the book with a proof of Gauss' proof of the Law of Quadratic Reciprocity. The material on quadratic residues calls upon many of the previous results. However, while there is a table classifying the theorems in the text (albeit without their actual formal statements), the lack of a subject index makes finding the necessary definitions and theorems difficult. Consequently, Friedberg's arguments are more difficult to follow than they need to be.

If you are seeking a basic introduction to the subject, try working through Oyestein Ore's an Invitation to Number Theory (New Mathematical Library), which is accessible to a bright high school student. Ore is also the author of a slightly more advanced text, Number Theory and Its History (Dover Classics of Science and Mathematics), which, like Friedberg's text, introduces number theory through its historical development. There are numerous more advanced treatments of the subject, which serve as good introductions. They include, among others, The Higher Arithmetic: An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers by H. Davenport, Elementary Number Theory by Gareth A. Jones and J. Mary Jones, and An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers by Ivan Niven, Herbert S. Zuckerman, and Hugh L. Montgomery.

This is the most comprehensive text written in the field of massage therapy. It is a detailed and complete guide to the assessment and treatment of the majority of conditions that we as therapists are faced with.

Canadian massage therapy education is above and beyond most in the world and certainly within North America. This is one of our required texts and the foundation for our treatment based approach to healing. These authors have been instrumental in the advancement of Canadian therapist education and the development and elevation of our standards of practice.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their massage therapy knowledge and gain a treatment based focus to their work.

Too Wordy and unorganized

This book is known as the "bible" for Clinical Massage Therapist. For sure, Rattray knows clinical massage, but she doesn't convey it very well in this format. It too wordy...just a bunch of unneccesary info. She really could have gotten to the point and written this book on a lot less paper. You can't find some information contained in the book in the index or table of contents. It's frustrating. You find yourself flipping through a bunch of pages trying to locate material needed. I had to take this book apart and put it into a binder, after getting rid of the excess. The book is thick, bulky and the cover is paper, and not reinforced paper or cardboard. It will not hold up well as a constant reference tool. The paper it's written on is thin. If you purchase it, be prepared to take it apart or be frustrated. You can get this one cheaper than the asking price of these sellers. This book is not for a beginner, unless you have an instructor to guide you.

Gregg Stoner spent two enlistments in the Marines during the Vietnam War and lived fives years in a boot camp environment. His first assignment was as a drill instructor, replacing his own drill instructor. He is currently the secretary of the Crow Crawford Chapter of the Drill Instructors Association.

The Best Marine Corps Boot Camp Book Currently Available

I stood on the yellow footprints in June of 1975 serving in the Marine Corps from 1975-1979. Over the years I have read every boot camp book I could find. This one is, by a wide margin, the best of them all. Where I have a problem with Mr. Stoner being so vocally anti war yet joining the Marine Corps (huh???) he did manage to write a great book. I also have a problem in that Mr. Stoner never served overseas (we were at war in Vietnam at the time) so I suspect that he may have had some credibility issues on the grinder as most of his fellow DI's would have been decorated war veterans who possessed a wealth of information that they could pass on to their recruits. Mr. Stoner was a war avoiding clerk typist.

Most Marine Corps boot camp books focus on the recruit experience. A few focus on the experience as viewed by the DI. This book is unique in that it looks at boot camp from both perspectives. Mr. Stoner starts out talking about his own experience as a recruit then later becomes a DI himself. The most interesting part of the book, to me, was learning about the DI school curriculum and how DI's viewed things. Every recruit, at the time, thinks that what's happening to them is unique, but boot camp is evidently heavily choreographed and follows a predictable formula. Most mass visits to the "pit" happen at the same time to each platoon when they hit certain trigger points in their training. It's been that way almost forever evidently.

This would be a good book for anyone who wants to know what Marine Corps Boot camp is all about. I was a Marine Drill Instructor myself and know first hand.

When I heard about this book on Leatherneck.com, I thought that the idea of a book written from the viewpoint of the recruit and of the DI being the same person would be a great read. I was right. I went through MCRD San Diego in 1977, so visualizing what Gregg was putting forth, and what I went through, was like being there again. I would recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of, or is definitely going to join the corps. I'm sure it's different now than it was in my time, much less Gregg's, but it would still provide the basics of what a modern day boot would experience. One thing that impressed me of Mr. Stoner's story is the fact that even though he did not agree with the Vietnam war, he still joined up and served his time. Not only that, but he did a damn good job of it. I salute you, Mr. Stoner, and thank you for putting your experiences in writing for all of us to read.

Almost Impossible for the beginner

I'm a student and beginner at discrete math and all related to this book. The book fails to teach in plain English and requiers you to come back to read over and over again what you failed to understand the first, second and third time.

The problems in each section are increadibily higher skilled than the examples and almost impossible to get the right answers. Some problems are even leagues away of what the examples imply and you would have never guessed where the answers on the back of the book came from.

Required but poorly written, poorly formatted, and an unfortunate choice for teaching discrete structures

At Portland State, this book is used for beginning DS but it's a very unfortunate book to use, especially since the professor teaching it uses the same examples and notes based on the book to teach the subject in class. I actually went online and found Vladlen Koltun's lecture notes from Stanford University. He goes over the same subject matter, actually explains a good proof structure and the more basic assumptions being made, and frankly made a lot more sense. Only buy it if it's required.

Not a great beginners book

This book can get you more lost than a first grader walking home from school. The exercise problems are terrible. It gives you the answers to all the easy problems and the hard problems which the chapters dont explain anything well will have you frustrated and confused. The chapters give you examples, but are not clear of how to work each example out. It just gives you the solution to the problem without giving an explanation. I have yet to find a solutions manual for this book. The book is not organized very well. If you have to have this book for a class, I suggest doing all the problems in each exercise, and the ones you cant figure out ask your teacher. I'm on my last two semesters in my CS degree and I have good programming skills, I would not recommend this book.

For my job, I bought and read every book on this subject, and this is the best. It covers both polyester and epoxy resin use, it covers the widest variety of typical repairs, it has the best illustrations, and overall, it stands head and shoulders above several very good competitors.
